The Boastful Tradesman

Once there was a trader who often went abroad in connection with his business. When he became old he had to transact his business to his son. His young son began to handle all his business.

The young trader was very boastful by nature. From his school days he used to boast about his father and his trips to abroad. He made all to listen to his talks. This continued for many years. Even after he had grown up as a business man, he could not change his nature of boastfulness.

The young trader went on e business travel abroad. This was his first business trip and so he had visited many new people and saw many new things. He was really thrilled to see them all.

Returning home, the young trader felt impatient to tell the wonderful experiences and thrills to his friends. When they were around him, he told them about the surprising things happened abroad. Among them, he boasted of an exploit of his own.

The young man said, "Friends when I was at Paris, I took part in a jumping competition and none could beat me in long jump. Everyone praised me and I became the talk of the town. If you go to Paris just enquire about me".

Everyone listening to him nodded, but one listener said, "We needn’t go to Paris. Why can't you prove your talent in front of us here?". The young trader had no words to say. So he went silently without saying anything from that place.

Moral : More boasts don’t make us big.
