There was a dense forest where many birds and animals lived happily. On one fine rainy season a peacock was dancing happily by unfolding its rich feather. While dancing the peacock began to sing loudly in joyous mood.
But suddenly on hearing its rough voice all the birds and animals burst into laughter. The peacock's face fell and tears came down from its eyes.
Suddenly at that time, a nightingale came and sat on the tree nearby the peacock. It began to sing beautiful songs enjoying the pleasant rainy season. Everyone loved its song and praised it. The peacock thought, "If I sing a song everyone laughs at me. How unlucky indeed I was". The peacock began to lament.
Surprisingly there appeared Juno, the wife of Jupiter. And she asked the peacock "What makes you so sad, Mr.Peacock?". The peacock grumbled "I have got such a beautiful body, that all praise it. But my voice is very rough and harsh. It is of no use to have this beauty".
On hearing this Juno said, "Never grumble over your God. God has given various gifts to every creature. To you beauty, to the eagle strength, to the nightingale good voice and so on". On hearing this the peacock realized its mistake and it conveyed its thanks to Juno.
