The Story of the Wind and the Sun

We all know well that North wind is very very cold as it comes from the ice-capped mountains. North wind monsoon climate is the very cold climate which make people shiver all over the world even in the warm countries.

On seeing people shivering hard in the North wind period, the North wind came to a false conclusion that it was due to his strength. So it became pride about it’s strength and it even challenged his strength with the strength of the scorching sun.

But the sun which gives brightness and warmth to the earth was very humble and it stands in its character as a SUN. It does not bother about the boastful statements of the North wind. The sun tried to smile away the wind’s challenge but the wind often insisted on a trial of their strength.

So, the sun had to agree with the wind for a challenge. They decided to have their trial upon a traveller. The one who could make the traveller, strip of his shirt was to be the winner.

The wind came first to try. Gathering all his force and fury, it gave a heavy blow upon the man to make the man’s cloak get off his body. But the man wrapped it even harder round him than before.

Now it was the Sun’s turn. He beamed at first gently. Feeling the cosy warmth, the traveller unwrapped his cloak and hung it from his shoulder. As the sun shone brightly, he threw it off. So, the sun emerged as the winner.

Moral : Fury doesn’t pay at all.
