The Fox and the Goat

Once a fox was roaming in the forest. It was thirsty. Eventually he found a well, but the water was only at the bottom of the well. The fox studied the problem and realized that there was a pulley system with two buckets to bring up the water. One bucket was going down causing another bucket to come up.

So the fox jumped into the bucket at the top and his weight immediately made it to drop to the bottom, where he could drink plenty of water he desired.

But after sometime, he realized that he could not get backup. But the fox did not get depressed. He knew that the world has lot of fools. So he waited for someone to come.

At about forenoon, a goat came that way. She peeped into the well and saw the fox there. "What are you doing there, Mr.Fox?" asked the goat. "I came here to drink water. It is the best I have ever tasted. Come and see for yourself", replied the clever fox.

Without thinking even a bit, the goat jumped into the well. She quenched her thirst and looked for the way to get out.

The fox said, "I've an idea. Stand on your hind legs. I'll climb on your head and go out. Then I shall help you too". The silly goat did so and the fox got out of the well. But as soon as he was up, the fox bid farewell to the goat and made to leave.

"Wait a minute," shouted the goat, "You promised me to get me back up". "Who promised?" asked the fox. "If you were wise, you would have never got in, without seeing how to get out".

Moral : Look before you leap.
